This morning Shaun and I had to be at the Jr High bright and early. KT had been selected to perform in the talent show and needed her adoring parents to come watch her. The early morning performance was going to be a problem for Shaun. Over the years, he’s become a bit of a night owl. Needless to say, he doesn’t “do” mornings very well and wasn’t very pleasant to be around.
I am, by nature, a very patient person. (I’d have to be in order to have married him!) Even I have my limits though, and I finally lost my temper with his grumpiness. We had a bit of a tiff and both left the school, going our separate ways angry with each other. I stewed on it a bit and finally decided to call his office phone as I knew he wasn’t there yet. That way I could tell him exactly how I felt and how I was right without him being able to interrupt me.
To his credit, Shaun called to apologize shortly after he listened to his voice mail. We made up and chatted for a bit, and then he apologized again. I finally had to ask him why he was speaking so softly. He responded that he didn’t want anyone to hear him. Then he went on to tell me that everyone probably already knew that we had been fussing with each other because his voice mail went on some sort of loop and keep repeating my message over and over, even after he shut it off.
I have to admit that I couldn’t help but burst into peals of laughter at this news. I like to think of it as some sort of cosmic force trying to teach him a lesson.
He should know better than to mess with me.
