Dental Dealings

Thanks you all for wonderful the birthday wishes. I had a truly lovely day. I’ll tell you all about it tomorrow, but first, before I forget, I want to talk about the dentist…

Our dentist has two ways of making semi-annual appointments. The preferred method is to set up your next cleaning just as you are finishing up your current one. Shaun prefers this so he doesn’t have to mess with it. I prefer to fill out the little post card so they can send me a reminder to set up a time. I can’t imagine knowing what my schedule (and that of the girls!) will be in six months. We just have too many activities going on.

That said…last week was Shaun’s appointment. Only he was sick (see what I mean?). They were perfectly willing to work on him, but he felt too poorly to mess with it. So he rescheduled. Yesterday, he realized that his new dentist appointment was at the same time as a very important meeting at work. He simply couldn’t skip out on the meeting and was too embarrassed to change his cleaning time again. So, he flashed his sweet green eyes at me and put his groveling skills into high action.

So…at 10:00 I found myself calling to cancel his 1:00 appointment. The receptionist was polite, but clearly not happy with us. (He owes me big time!) She was very professional as we set him up with his third appointment. (Won’t Shaun be happy when he finds out that it’s at the crack of dawn?) Then I proceeded to mention that I needed to set up cleanings for the girls and myself. I told her the time parameters for the girls and we managed to find a slot for them in a couple of weeks. When I told the receptionist that my schedule was much more flexible, she brightened up. “Well…how about taking your husband’s 1:00 appointment?” She asked.

I thought of a zillion things I needed to do, and mostly about how I hadn’t been so great about flossing and, and….oh the guilt of it all!

Guess who has the cleanest teeth in the whole house????
