SPF Something RED

When I saw Kristine’s prompt for this week, “Something Red”, my mind went flying in all sorts of directions.  In the last couple of years, I’ve fallen in love with the color red.  I could start with my front door, I could use my couch, my throw rugs, my curtains, my jacket or even my purse.  (It just occurred to me, I don’t have a big, shiny red coffee mug! Hint)

Then I thought about the obvious, most important reds in my life….my family.  Shaun’s hair is much too short to show off. (although I suppose the beard would do) and KT’s hair has so many other colors in with the red.  Therefore, I present my baby girl, Little Mimi and her glorious red hair.

Ever since she was tiny, Mimi’s hair has made her the center of attention.  Real redheads aren’t all that common and people have always been fascinated by it.  Adding to the allure, were the mounds of curls she had as a baby.  ( I soooo need to drag out  that scanner…then learn how to use it!)  Mimi’s personality thrived on all that attention.  She could easily keep a crowd of strangers entertained.  (Maybe this is how she became the Drama Queen?)

Redheads, much like the Irish, are amazingly proud.  It’s a huge part of their identity.  I still remember the first question my mother-in-law asked after the birth of both of my children “What color is her hair?”   I still think that’s an odd question. (Maybe that’s because both of my girls were bald, or because I only have a little red in my hair…hard to say!)

All I can really say, is that I adore this feisty little redhead.

What an original idea. I have lots of red around my house as you probably noted when I did the red pics a couple weeks ago. Your daughter had beautiful hair!

Beautiful daughter and I am partial to red too since my 2 granddaughters are real redheads too. Me at one time a strawberry blond but now there is some “age” mixed into it.

Aww. She’s so pretty! I had red hair when I was born also, but as the months went by it changed to blonde.

I have all colors in my hair… blonde, black, brown, red, and even a couple white. 😉 If you don’t pick them out individually though it just looks like brown. Plain ol’ bleh brown. When I was little I wanted naturally red hair SO bad. No such luck.

    Your kids are beautiful.

I too love red. My hair is slowly becoming redder, thanks to the bottle. I was a redhead about 20 years ago but didn’t like the upkeep and decided to wait till I needed color. I’m there now. Loved the picture of your daughter.

The second photo reminds me of you when you were just a little squirt. (except the red hair.)

I love being a red head! It’s my favorite box to pick at Target. Currently it’s a sassy Chocolate Cherry. I would kill for it to be real. And not grey………

  21. Sonia says:

I have a redhead too…..he got more attention than the other three as a baby, somebody at the grocery store would always want to talk to him because their favorite aunt had red hair or whatnot.
And I concur, that fiery redhead stereotype is completely true!!

  22. Rebecca says:

well I am redhead too but with orange and I’ve got a lot of freckles Its cool I like it better than blonde. Dont you think so? or is better blonde..??
