Our Adventure~Day One

We got a bright and early start leaving town shortly before noon.  Shaun, of course, had to laugh at all the things I needed to bring.  Naturally I’ve discovered several things that I’ve forgotten…and you know it’s all his fault.

My first choice of the Olympic Peninsula was nixed because the temperature over there was a bit too chilly for riding with the top of the jeep down.  So we headed over the Washington Pass towards the North Cascades.  I just marveled over how green and beautiful this part of the world is.

Once we hit the top of the summit, our eighty degree weather took a nose dive.  Suddenly there was a blanket of pink snow covering the world.  (Shaun says it was pink because of bacteria.  That sounds unlikely to me, but as I avoid snow, I’ll have to trust him)

We finally came to the city of Winthrop, an old-time western theme town.  Shaun had told me this was the destination he had in mind…but…well…some things are easy to forget about.  It looked a bit to gimmicky to me, but he had his heart set on it.

At his insistence, we stopped and got a room.  My heart sunk when he handed me the key.  When is the last time you saw one of these?

To my delight the hotel that looked rather “iffy” from the front turned out to be wonderful.  We sat on our personal balcony watching the river below us and eating a picnic dinner that we picked up at the local grocery store.

All in all we’ve had a wonderful day…..

If you click on any of the photos you can see them in “big”

What a wonderful time for both of you. I love little get-aways with Brent. Mind you, we don’t have two teens to get away from so you trip is probably extra special! 🙂

Of course, you’ll have a great time and miss the girls dearly.

  7. Peggy says:

I’m glad that the key and not a plastic swipe card didn’t mean scary Bates Motel situation.

Those keys remind me of our honeymoon.

MoJoKat~It was really quaint. And she kept them on hooks behind the counter…how Old West is that?

Songbird~I love that view. I’d still be there…but youknowwho dragged me off!

Michelle~It has been a while since you had a getaway hasn’t it? Well, I guess with all your moving and such. Maybe we should get ourselves a plane….

Peggy~you crack me up! I’m glad I didn’t read that before we stayed there 🙂

Hi Tara~it wasn’t snowy for too long, just at the very top. I have no idea what that plant is, I just thought it looked pretty cool. Like I was a little fairly and it was an over grown unbrella or something like that.

Gawilli~it *is* really nice, we are enjoying ourselves tremendously.

Cheryl~we like exploring other parts of our amazing state.

    Sue~It is delightful!

There is nothing more fun than just hoping in the car and going somewhere. And then just driving around and taking in the scenery and all that fun stuff.

I would want to steal that room key. Actually, just the key ring.
