My Baby is Sick…

This morning, shortly before the Crack of Dawn, our little Mimi crawled into bed with me.  She was crying that her tummy hurt and she felt like she was “going to barf”.  Being the caring mother that I am, I allowed her to crawl in and cuddle up with me.  But I couldn’t help thinking that she had better not barf in my bed.  (there goes my Mother of the Year Award).

My children don’t get sick very often.  That’s very fortunate for them because I’m not much of a caring nurse.  Vomit really, really grosses me out.  What comes out the other end is even more disgusting.  And we won’t even get into my mucus issues…

As much as I tend to indulge my family, doting on an ailing kid just isn’t high in my book.  My cure for a sick child is to send them to bed and make them stay there all day.  Sleep pretty much fixes all minor illnesses.  And if I’m feeling really maternal, I might make her some scrambled eggs to eat.  Needless to say, my kids don’t fake illness just to stay home from school like so many other kids I know.  It just isn’t fun for them.

Having  said that, I think I am getting soft in my old age.  Our Little Mimi woke up at shortly before noon.  I asked if she wanted to read while I made her some eggs.  Somehow she’s managed to convince me that she should be allowed to watch one  TV show.  And she also is being  allowed her to to eat her favorite baked beans instead of eggs.

Sigh…I guess you just have to spoil them sometimes when they aren’t feeling well….
