My Song…

]funmondaylogo-thumb.jpgJulie from Ohh a shiny pen says she wants

“… hear the ONE song that is you. The song that whenever it is heard, you smile. I am not looking for the soundtrack of your life, just that one song. Your friends hear it and think of you. You can post the video, the lyrics, the wav file. However you want to post it is great.”

Sound easy? It’s not…at least not for me.  I want to post the entire sound track, but all she wants it the song that is me right now.  I’ve been thinking about this all week.  Finally…I’ve come up with this one.

It’s “These are days we’ll remember” by Natalie Merchant.  Today is the day we live for.

If I get a second song (or maybe this should be my first) I would chose “Goodbye Earl” by the Dixie Chicks..  I’d say it was me because it’s irreverent and fun…even about really serious matters.

if anyone hasn’t heard Goodbye Earl by the Dixie Chicks, look for it on YouTube and see if its up there. quite frankly, one of the best kickarse woman songs out there. it lightens up the topic of domestic violence, but in a way that the woman or the abused, wins. something else i crank and sing at the top of my lungs!

I haven’t heard that song before. As I watched the video I kept wanting to drag her away from the edge even though I knew it was graphics!

  4. Goodbye Earl cracks me up. Every time I hear it I laugh out loud.

  5. Linda says:

Love that Natalie Merchant one, but Goodbye Earl is hilarious!

I love These Are the Days, too. Great one for a life story, I’d say. And, yes. This was a tough assignment.

  7. I LOVE this song! I was actually considering a few of hers for my post- primarily “Wonder”

And… this was my husband’s graduating class song.

Goodbye Earl? Awesome. You should have chosen that. Then you should have showed the post to your husband.

  17. Karina says:

    Love this song! Great choice!!!

  18. Mine is “He Thinks He’ll Keep Her,” by Mary Chapin Carpenter. But only the first part–not the part where she hates her life! I find it so fascinating that my life and the person in the song’s life started out the same, but took such different paths. It just reinforces that appreciation makes all the difference.

  19. Sieglinde says:

“Goodbye Earl” was my anthem about 7 years ago……thank goodness those days are past. Great final choice, too, btw.

  20. Sandy says:
