No, I’m not really talking about the last time I posted, but that works too…
About a zillion years ago, I came across a blog called The Northwest Ladybug. Something about this blog, just sucked me right in so I marked it in my Bloglines (no I haven’t managed to switch to the other one that everyone seems to use) and started lurking in on Carol’s life.
Now, the Pacific Northwest is a huge area. As far as I can tell, it starts down in Oregon and then goes all the way up the coast through Washington up to (or depending on who you talk to including) Canada. Then it goes east to include Idaho and parts of Montana. Like I said, it’s a big region.
Despite knowing that Carol could live anywhere, I couldn’t shake off the feeling that she lived somewhere near my neck of the woods. Her photos of the area looked eerily familiar, the places she talked about… It just made me wonder…
Then one day, she posted this about her garage sale. I was in shock…I had just resisted stopping there as I passed that house on my way home. Carol was my neighbor! (At least now I knew why everything looked so familiar!)
My first impulse was to stop reading her blog right away and just pretend that I didn’t know anything about her. It just seemed kinda creepy to me…like I was a stalker or something. Then I realized that I didn’t want to give her blog up. Eventually, I decided I had to out myself.
Carol took the news that she had a stalker very well. In fact, we emailed a bit, talked on the phone, and made plans to meet up for coffee or go for a walk around the neighborhood in order to get to know each other better.
That was back in July, and we finally managed to meet for lunch…yesterday.
When I walked into the restaurant, I immediately knew who she was (after all, I had seen a zillion pictures of her) As we sat down to chat, it was like meeting with an old friend! Real Life Carol is exactly the same as Blogger Carol. She is warm, caring and funny. I really enjoyed her company. It was amazing how comfortable I was with her right away. We had tons of stuff to talk about on all topics. Then suddenly, it was time to go…the hour the hour had just flown by.
Now that we’ve finally met up in real life, maybe we’ll be better about doing something again…at least before another year is up!
Next post, I’ll tell you about the special Pay It Forward gift she gave me. Now, if you will excuse me, there are 636 posts on my Bloglines…I’m guessing I may not see them all, but I’ll give it a shot!
I think it’s lovely that you two bloggers are neighbours as well. It is also a lovely photo of the both of you!
How funny that you and I both met fellow bloggers recently! Isn’t the world of blogging a truly small one? I’m glad you two got to meet … finally!
How funny! I have never met anyone here who writes a blog. But, that doesn’t mean they don’t exist. I’m glad it turned out so well.
This is so cool! How fun to have a new friend. I’m happy for you!
Oh, how fun is that! It’s great that you two finally got together. And it sounds like I’m not the only one who’s fallen behind reading her blogs, in fact, you’ve got me beat…I have 272 posts to read on my google reader… 😉
It is so great when blog friends turn into real friends. I have been blessed to have this happen with several people.
Thats pretty neat.
What an awesome image, great hook up…so glad you both got to meet. Now, when do we meet for coffee ? 🙂
Wow!!!! It’s a small world, isn’t it?
I think the story of how we “met” and then MET is so awesome! It was fabulous having a chance to finally get together and I’m sure we’ll do it again soon! Thanks for the post!
Carol
Totally small world! Great picture and congrats on the new “real life” friendship!
You guys look like you belong
You are such a good blog stalker 🙂 I love that! We are totally going to have to get together again sometime soon as well. I love your other project you are doing…the 2 lives. Gimme a call!!!
I still haven’t met my neighbor who blogs. And I often wonder how often I’ve seen him.
I generally find the whole thing creepy.
well if you are a stalker, at least you are a very kind one 😉 what a great story! i have loved the opportunities to meet other bloggers in real life too.
How cool is that?!!
Small world! My anecdote is the other way ’round. I have a few friends in the same metro area who also blog. I’ll find a little gem of a blog a world away (you know like an errant talent agent of sorts I begin to think I’ve ‘discovered’ this hidden treasure), then I start seeing my friends’ avatars pop-up in one of the Blog Log or Blog Catalog widgets at in the sidebar before I have a chance to spread the word!
That is so cool. I get all quivery when I read posts about bloggers actually meeting–it seems like some weird line has been crossed, but then everyone realizes they’re just people after all.
Funny, I just met a fellow blogger that lives in the Twin Cities close to me. We joked about stalking as well. 🙂 You two even look similar – lost sisters 🙂
That’s just too cool. I would love to meet some of the people I have come to know and enjoy through this crazy world of photoblogging. Who knows maybe someday our paths will cross too.
How cool is that? I love when my internet life meets up with my real life.
