Messing With Sunday's Tradition

For some time now, KT and I have had ourselves a little Sunday tradition.  She gets out of bed and shuffles around aimlessly for a little while before it dawns on her that it is Sunday and remembers what it is we do.  She’ll suddenly blurt out “Post Secret!” And wiggles herself half onto me and half on my lap.

We snuggle together in my chair as we quietly read the newly posted secrets, only speaking to each other to when we don’t understand something or can’t make out a word.  Then to lighten things up, we head over to Cake Wrecks to giggle at a week’s worth of cake fiascos.

Only this morning was a bit different.  A combination of KT sleeping in and her father getting up a smidge early resulted in Shaun sitting across from me and chatting.   When KT climbed up on me and we stared intently into the monitor of my laptop, Shaun naturally wanted to know what we were doing.

“Post Secret” we said abruptly.  Of course, he wanted to know what exactly that was.  I quickly reminded him (because we’ve had this conversation a few times before)  that people write all sorts of secrets on a post card and send them in anonymously.  Intrigued, Shaun asked us to read some of them to him.   I was on my third cup of coffee and was somewhat willing to comply.  Our girl just glared and did her best to ignore him.

When we finished reading the new post, KT got up and headed to the kitchen in disgust.  (She’s not really a fan of having our traditions messed with.)  When I mentioned that we never got to our other Sunday Website, she came flying back.

Shaun couldn’t stand it another minute.  He blurted out that he wanted to see too and came darting over towards us.  KT looked at him in horror at the thought of her father squishing into the chair along with us and quickly announced to him that there was “No room for you!”   Shaun just looked at her like she was insane as he scooted around behind the chair so that he could giggle at the cakes with us.  (OK, laugh…guys aren’t supposed to giggle)

It was nice to spend some early morning time with Shaun…but next week KT’s just going to have to get up earlier so that we can have our special time back to ourselves

Not that we are selfish or anything…

I just broke the Post Secret link above because, as I was just remind, it can have some mature content. Both in images and raw emotions. This week it happens to be a bit on the risque/crude side.  I didn’t to direct anyone else to a place they would rather not be.  I’m ok with kt viewing this because it’s real and I’m there viewing it with her.  If you are still interested, Post Secret is HERE.

Funny, guess you’ll have to wake her up from now on. 🙂 I usually read PostSecrets to my hubs but had never heard of Cake Wreck. Cute little ghost cakes this week. Or not. 🙂

I think it’s sweet that you have a Sunday morning tradition for just the two of you. I can understand her not wanting anyone else to crash that party. Sorry Shaun! 😉
