It’s Possible I’m Getting Old(er)

It wasn’t so very long ago (well…OK…I guess it’s been about twenty years, I guess that is a while) that I wouldn’t even have considered getting ready to go out before nine or ten.  After all, nothing ever happened in the clubs before then.  Then of course we would stay out dancing until the lights came on then find ourselves at a happening party somewhere.  We wouldn’t make it home until the wee hours of the morning.  Those were the days…

Now, one non-clubbing husband and two children later (not to mention those twenty or so years) and I found myself wondering how odd it would be for me to go to bed as soon as Sam and I got home from Puppy Class.  After all, it was dark outside…even if it was only 6:30.

I think I can forgive myself for going to bed (or at least taking a nap) fairly early. After all, I’ve been leaving the house at 6:00 every morning to take Mimi to school.  (which might explain my new early morning gym habit.) Of course, my night owl tendencies want to stay up late and I’m rarely in bed before midnight.  There are just certain nights that I crave the comfort of my bed and sweet slumber.  So, it’s an early night for me.

Of course, you can just throw me in a a home somewhere if I start looking forward to dining at 4:00 in order to catch the Early Bird Specials…

  1. You and me both. We just made plans with friends for tomorrow night–a 4ish movie followed by an early dinner. We’ll miss the early bird special but only by a little bit!

It’s to early for you to have the deserted kids syndrone! I say! Go take your vitamins! Lots of them! You could take a trip…. a long one….. and come and see me! Now that’s a idea! No sleeping before eight!

I must have been born old! We’ve always liked eating out early — not for the specials, but because we don’t like to wait in line. I really hate crowds!

You know, I grew up eating fairly early, but with Shaun’s work schedule and kid activities, our dinner time just got later and later. I think an early dinner would be considered a late lunch by our family!

LOL, I hear you! I’m a total night owl, but that being said, I can’t imagine getting ready to go out at 10PM like I used to in my own clubbing days…that’s just crazy talk now. I stay up late, but usually that’s in my pj’s on my couch, with my snuggie and my cats cuddling up with me.

Yep…here it is, 2 minutes to midnight and I’m in my jammies, two cats on my lap and a dawg at my feet. I lead such an exciting life!

  5. I know what you mean! I had a friend in town who was staying with me, so we went out, leaving my hubby home to fend off the kiddo.

At 10pm, I was ready to go home… and my friend was just getting started!

I’m not a night owl or an early bird. These days I like to be in bed about 9:30 and wake up around 8. That never happens, but still. I’m more of a Middle-of-the-Day kind of gal. 🙂
