In a nutshell
A Slice of my Life is my take on two teenagers, one husband and a whole slew of critters. Life around here is never boring!
Shaun (also referred to as my Beloved): Computer Nerd, WoW Geek and all around Nice Guy. (although sometimes I have to wonder if he's really just a 12 year old boy trapped in a 40 something year old man's body)
Kt-The Teenager: Our oldest daughter, college student, vegan, volunteer, high achiever with a goofy side.
Mimi-The Feisty Redhead: Still our baby girl, high school junior, Drama Queen, artistic and culinary inclined.
And then there’s me, Susan The one who adores them all! I hope you enjoy all the antics that go on in our little slice of the web.

Just Like Edison
I woke up in the wee hours of the morning wondering what had woke me up. After a moment it dawned on me that it wasn’t something that woke me, but rather it was the lack of something. The fans … Continue reading

New Year’s Tradition
A few years ago, I heard that eating black eyed peas and collard greens on New Year’s Day would bring good luck for the entire year. Despite not being terribly superstitious, and realizing that I had made it though many, … Continue reading

Hey! Is that who I think it is?
Shaun took me to lunch at our favorite Szechuan restaurant this weekend. As we chatted and enjoyed our meal I watched as a little boy wandered near our table. He walked back and forth a couple times and eventually stopped … Continue reading

For the Love of Coffee and a Good Man
Last night I was browsing through Pintrest before bed. I stumbled across a board about coffee and just had to laugh at some of the silliness posted. (Just in case you are unaware, it’s pretty much a State Law that … Continue reading

Of Cake and Song
I come from a family of singers. So it was really no big surprise when I answered my phone last Thursday morning and was greeting with a rousing rendition of song. This went on all day long. Interspersed among happy … Continue reading

The Chili Lover
Shaun and I had been dating long enough for me to realize that he was The One, when I decided to treat him to my World Famous Chili. He watched with an odd expression on his face as I sautéed … Continue reading

Of Worms and Dads
Every time I look at the home screen on my phone, I have to smile. The photo is of a chubby two- year-old hand proudly holding up a wriggling worm. This, of course, makes me think of my dad. Now … Continue reading
