In a nutshell
A Slice of my Life is my take on two teenagers, one husband and a whole slew of critters. Life around here is never boring!
Shaun (also referred to as my Beloved): Computer Nerd, WoW Geek and all around Nice Guy. (although sometimes I have to wonder if he's really just a 12 year old boy trapped in a 40 something year old man's body)
Kt-The Teenager: Our oldest daughter, college student, vegan, volunteer, high achiever with a goofy side.
Mimi-The Feisty Redhead: Still our baby girl, high school junior, Drama Queen, artistic and culinary inclined.
And then there’s me, Susan The one who adores them all! I hope you enjoy all the antics that go on in our little slice of the web.

This September Morning
This morning was Mimi’s first soccer game of the season. As I basked in the warm sun, cheering on our team and chatting with the other parents, I paused for a moment…just to reflect on how truly wonderful life was. … Continue reading
The Last First Day
It was a major struggle to climb out of bed this morning. We had done just as we do every summer the moment school lets out…revert into “Night Owl” mode. Our entire family seems happiest staying up until the wee … Continue reading
A Pocket For KT

Apparently, I’m A Hipster
“So, remember that show that I like? Project Runway?” I asked my husband. “Um…yeah?” he answered warily. “Well, last night was the season premier and it was all over Blogland.” “But…you like to watch that show, so that’s a good … Continue reading

Those Teachable Moments…
When one of the headlights in the van Mimi drives burnt out, I knew it was one of those “teachable moments” that every decent parent is honor-bound to take advantage of. “Come on Mimi” I said holding a brand new … Continue reading

The Wisdom of Mom
I was at that “about to burst” stage of my first pregnancy when one of my friends spotted a newborn in a restaurant. She dragged me over to meet the new mother and gaze upon her infant. I dutifully ooohhed … Continue reading

Blame It On The Cabana Boy
Apparently…there is this little known blog rule that says you can’t blog once or twice a month (if that) for months on end, and then all of a sudden decide you are going to start writing a little more frequently. … Continue reading

The Wonderful Lily
Shaun and I were in the hardware store On A Mission for a very important doohickey that he needed desperately. I happily followed along admiring all the fun eye candy. (Seriously, I like hardware stores!) When we came to a … Continue reading

Time Keeps Marching Along…
Can it truly be March already? How did it happen that we are in the third month of the year? I still remember my second grade teacher telling us that time would go faster and faster as we got older. … Continue reading
