In a nutshell
A Slice of my Life is my take on two teenagers, one husband and a whole slew of critters. Life around here is never boring!
Shaun (also referred to as my Beloved): Computer Nerd, WoW Geek and all around Nice Guy. (although sometimes I have to wonder if he's really just a 12 year old boy trapped in a 40 something year old man's body)
Kt-The Teenager: Our oldest daughter, college student, vegan, volunteer, high achiever with a goofy side.
Mimi-The Feisty Redhead: Still our baby girl, high school junior, Drama Queen, artistic and culinary inclined.
And then there’s me, Susan The one who adores them all! I hope you enjoy all the antics that go on in our little slice of the web.

Cookie Logic
I’d been trying my best to eat healthier for the past few months. In the summer, with the easy outdoor living and abundance of fresh fruit and veggies everywhere you looked, it was fairly simple. As the seasons changed, I … Continue reading

It’s All Rubbish
“Did you take out the trash?” asked my Beloved with narrowed eyes. I paused for a moment, unsure of what to say. Then I pointed to my daffodils that had struggled to come up every year since I had planted … Continue reading

Just Like Edison
I woke up in the wee hours of the morning wondering what had woke me up. After a moment it dawned on me that it wasn’t something that woke me, but rather it was the lack of something. The fans … Continue reading

Lofty Goals
Last weekend, Shaun and I went on a little adventure. (More about that later!) We had looked online and found a quirky little café in the middle of a boatyard. I had a feeling I was really going to like … Continue reading

Cherished
I was wandering around in the grocery store the other night, having a conversation with myself about what I still needed to get. I glanced over and spotted an older gentleman looking at me oddly. Assuming that my conversation was … Continue reading

The Things I May Have Forgotten to Mention
My parents called me yesterday. They said it had been over a week since we last talked and they just wanted to catch up on things. It wasn’t too long into the conversation when my dad asked about the weather … Continue reading

You Better Watch Out!
Our entire family went out shopping last Friday night, hoping that the crowds of Black Friday shoppers were home, sleeping off their early morning plundering. Well, technically we just popped into Target to get a few things. I don’t … Continue reading

This Summer: A Manifesto
School let out a week ago and I’ve been a little at loose ends as I don’t teach during the summer. I have a huge lists of projects that need doing, but somehow I’m not terribly inspired to get started. … Continue reading

Hey! Is that who I think it is?
Shaun took me to lunch at our favorite Szechuan restaurant this weekend. As we chatted and enjoyed our meal I watched as a little boy wandered near our table. He walked back and forth a couple times and eventually stopped … Continue reading

A Sweet Tradition
A couple weeks ago, I set a loose goal for myself to bake some sort of bread about once a week. I had no particular reason to do this…it was just one of those things. (What? You don’t get crazy … Continue reading
