Poor you! But what excitement! I was glad to hear that Ma Nature was picking on the West coast for a change! We’ve had challenging weather in NJ too this year with our freak Halloween snowstorm that left 15 inches of snow on the still-leafed-out trees and brought them down like matchsticks. We were without power for 5 days, and no, we don’t have a generator! Thankfully it was not terribly cold; heated the house with the fireplaces, cooked on a propane one burner camp stove. Camping in your own house is not all it’s cracked up to be!

The more I look at my last comment on your blog the more pompous and patronizing it looks and it is not what I wanted to say at all. I enjoy your writing but like all good things it is difficult to pin down exactly what it is that I like. It has that elusive quality that we all strive for but seldom achieve. As a male your blog is not the sort of thing that would normally appeal but there is something very sane and down-to-earth about it that is endearing and makes me come back. It is Someone coping with life in the best way they can and making a rather good job of it. David

Sure glad that we stayed in Sunny Southern California!!!! I think that they still have planes leaving WA to CA

Thank you. We do have a generator, but learned the hard way that you really can’t just let it sit for a year or so with gas in it. Oops! It’s a good thing Shaun can figure out how to fix those things.

I’m not sure it’s good that he’s brave or not! I’m a born chicken that would have been happy to stay home. Although, I have to admit that it’s hard to hunker down with hot choc and TV if the power is out. Sigh…

hope you stay safe and have power now, always quite shocking when the power of we get so reliant on it these days. we have a log burner so at least we can keep warm when the power off.
